Problem Fixed - Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Just as we thought! It was no surprise that there was still no hot water when we woke up. Been there, done that. Rich thought he knew where the problem was, but he didn't have a pair of pliers. The last two times the plumber used pliers to do something with a pipe in our water heater to release the air bubble that was blocking the hot water from coming. Oh well, we got out the pans and heated water for our sponge baths today.

Elder Peterson called and arranged with Elder Kroff to go with him to customs to get the packages that were there. Elder Paz couldn't go because he had too much work to do. So he and I would man the office. Elder Peterson wanted to go early to get in line and asked if we could be to the office by 8:00. The water problem put us behind, but we hurried along leaving breakfast dishes in the sink and a few things undone, but who would see it???

Elder Paz and I had a quiet day at the office. The phones didn't seem to ring much, but I was grateful for a Spanish speaker when it was needed. He does very well speaking English and improves daily.

I was happy with what I accomplished, that being ordering missionary placas, and deleting obsolete stuff on my computer. I also cleaned out some file folders and rearranged a couple of drawers.

Elder Paz and I couldn't figure out what was taking the other two so long to return. It was way past noon. Pretty soon Rich called and said they had all but one package and although they were told someone was looking for it, they believed otherwise. They had already waited three hours for that one package and finally someone took pity on them and when he left to go find it, he returned within minutes. They both came back shaking their heads at the obvious lack of organization and customer service. They hoped they had not waited three hours for a package full of candy.

When we walked in our apartment we immediately tried the hot water tap to find nothing. Rich called Lucila and she said she would call the plumber and have him come right over. She came also and followed him to three apartments that had called with the same problem. The plumber was baffled and kept running between the three apartments, to the roof, and to the basement trying to resolve the problem. It was determined that there WAS trapped air in the hot water line, on a large scale than just our apartment. So Rich wouldn't have been able to correct this one. Once cleared, all was well. I then did the dishes.

The plomería, Diego Galliano, gives a thumbs up at solving the hot water problem. He knew a few English words and tried them all on us. He was a pleasant sort of guy. Nice work, Diego.

My anxiety level is down now that my talk is done. Oh, it needs some thought and polishing, but the core of it is in tact. Whew!!
