No Agua! - Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Even though I haven't physically started organizing and packing, I have done it in my mind. We are waiting for the apartment next to us to be ready for the contract to be signed and Elder Paz is working on that. When we have the key, we will bring all of our suitcases up from the basement storage and lay them out in that apartment and begin taking things over there to pack. A table and a fridge need to be purchased and moved in and also light fixtures need to be installed. The renter buys his own light fixtures and takes them when he moves. So there are a few needful things to be done, but I wish they would hurry up and get done soon.

It was a good day at the office and I got a lot accomplished. The nine packets for the leaving missionaries were on my list for today along with the plane tickets for the Latins leaving in December. Exito!!! I got them all done.

The office elders had their District Meeting at 11:00 over in the church so it was quiet and there were no distractions which helped me remained focused. I needed that today!

Rich made a run to the bank, paid some bills, and bought a fridge to replace a worn out one that some sisters are using.

I try to get shots of companionships when I remember. Elder Cranford and Elder Watson happened to be in the way of my camera yesterday so they were the "lucky ones." They are a handsome twosome, I'd say!

District meeting got over about 1:00 and we hadn't eaten our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, nor did the elders have anything planned for their lunch. So, we opted to buy Chinese food and have it delivered. It has been a while since we treated them and it tasted good to us today. Elder Peterson was excited because we gave him our sandwiches. He would save them for a snack when they return home tonight. Go peanut butter!!

It just had to happen one more time before we leave. We walked into our apartment to find we had no water. Usually it is no hot water, but hot and cold were missing today. Good Grief!! Rich immediately called Lucila and she knew about it. She was already in the building with repairmen trying to solve the problem. She was checking each apartment to see who was affected and who wasn't.

When she came to us, I spoke to her about the repairs that were needed in our apartment and about how long would it take before the Schoeny's could move in after we're gone. She said it would only take about two to three days to paint, seal our bedroom window that leaks water, and to recaulk around the tub. Hmmm, we've seen how speedy these Argentine workers are. Good luck!

We were told that the tanks were filling, not really understanding why they were drained, and that by morning we should be good to go. Well . . . . by bedtime we had cold water, but no hot. Experience told us not to expect much when we wake up. We'll see!! I guess miracle do happen.
