Thursday:
With transfers over, we were counting on a mellow day at work. That doesn't mean we will have less work to do, but the traffic in and out of the office might decrease. That would be nice.
For Elder Peterson it wasn't too mellow because he took several elders up to Immigrations to work on obtaining their visas. Sometimes it is an all day event, but today they were in and out in record time. He was back at the office by 1:30-2:00. That's a record!!
Elder Davis and I spent time in the supply room sorting mail into bins to which the requested supplies by the missionaries will be added. When the President does his interviews, he will deliver the bin to the District Leader.
Elder Kroff worked on a myriad of financial matters to which I do not pay a lot of attention. He has pressure times in his work load, and right now he is anxious to get things done because of Marianne and Melissa coming in a week. Some deadlines are coming up.
When work was over and we were on our way home thinking we had a calm night ahead of us, we remembered that it was Thursday and we were going to check out this dancing school out in Tigre that we passed a few nights ago. Their sign outside said that on Thursdays the Tango was taught. We are looking for a place to take the girls for a Tango lesson as that is one request Melissa has when she comes to Argentina -- to dance a few steps of the Tango while here. So we hopped on the bus and got off only to find that the place was closed. It was to open at 8:00, but it was about 8:15 and still no sign of life inside. There were a couple people outside and one gal was on the phone calling about it. She found out that the instructor couldn't make it on Thursdays anymore, and would be teaching it on Tuesdays. That won't work for us, so now what?? Hmmm.
We got back on the bus and returned home. That was a short trip.
Friday:
This week seemed to be as busy as they get, and it made the time whiz by. It is already Friday and knowing our time will be limited in the office when Melissa and Marianne arrive, we hustled today to get things done so we wouldn't feel stressed not being here as much. We are looking forward with excitement for their arrival and can hardly believe that the time is here. We are just praying that all will go well and that they will arrive without delays and problems.
I sorted more mail and organized the faxed copies of the request for supplies that are coming in from the District Leaders. They have contacted all the missionaries in their districts to see what supplies they want or need. Today is the date I gave them to have their pedidos form faxed back to me.
Since the mission tour is next Monday and Tuesday and Elder Arnold will be with us, we need to have the office in tip top shape. We were hoping that our cleaning guy would come today, but no such luck. However, the lazyboy rocker that the President had sent to the office from his home needed to be returned. It was sent over for Elder Davis to sit in to elevate his leg which was ordered by the doctor. But things have been progressing along nicely with his leg and he doesn't use the chair anymore.
It doesn't look very professional to have an easy chair in our office, nor is there room, so Rich and I elected to take it back to the mission home. Luckily the door to the house from inside the garage was open, so we managed to get the chair into the house and appropriate room by ourselves. The office looks much better.
Our Friday night date night turned into an interesting experience. We needed to purchase some thing that needed to be packed in one of the suit cases going home with the girls. We needed to go to San Isidro to make the purchase. It isn't a clear shot on the train to get there, and some walking is required. We were surprised to see that all the stores in this small underground mall were closed. Oh gees, now what! That means we have to come back tomorrow.
We left and walked a little ways to the bus stop on Libertador planning on getting off at the ravioli store we were directed to by Hermana Torre. When we ate at their home a couple Sundays ago, we were impressed with the delicious raviolis she served. We wanted to have them for the dinner on Sunday that we were fixing for ex-Elder Clegg and his parents who were coming back to Buenos Aires for a visit.
We left excited and satisfied with our find. Why did it take us 19 months to discover this place? We may have been regular patrons.
We returned home at 9:45 and I mentally prepared for the busy Saturday that would soon be here. I wrote a journal entry trying to get caught up and then went to bed.
