Love Springtime - Saturday, October 9, 2010

We had an agenda to follow today that would keep us busy until we dropped into bed. First and foremost on our list was to clean up our three little rooms to perfection anticipating the arrival of our daughters next week, but also to entertain the Clegg family from Tooele tomorrow after church. We were excited beyond words for both!

After showering and getting ready for the day's activities, we started cleaning and organizing. The two twin size mattresses that we have borrowed from the mission along with two blankets and pillows needed to be place somewhere out of the way. We stuck the mattresses against the wall by our bed. During the night, I awoke wondering why Rich was throwing his pillow on me and when I came to my senses, I realized that the mattress had fallen forward on me. It surprised me!

During the morning, Denise and Paul skyped us to talk about the airline flights for our girls. The night flight to Buenos Aires looks good for Tuesday, but the Salt Lake to Atlanta flights and Denver to Atlanta were becoming complicated. Denise could get Melissa to Atlanta on a buddy pass easier than getting Marianne out of Salt Lake. She and Paul would be going with Marianne and meeting Melissa in Atlanta. As we talked we could see that it was too iffy and too many variables to get all of them to Atlanta timely for the flight to Bs. As. at 8:30 p.m. so we opted to purchase tickets to get them to Atlanta. Whew!! The decision was made and Denise found the cheapest deals and best times to depart. It was worth it to us to have reserved seats for them.
The Tooele people will fly to Denver and meet Melissa and fly to Atlanta together. How exciting.

Having that arranged and feeling good about it, we proceeded on to the next task of the day. Because of our foiled plans last night to purchase some things that we want our girls to take back with them, we decided to head out to San Isidro by train to try again.

On the way to the train, we can see that Spring is truly here. We remembered from last year how beautiful the bushes and trees were as they blossomed with new growth and flowers. We looked forward to Spring again. This flowering bush is on our way to the train station.

We stopped at our favorite panadaria to be sure they would be open when we returned from our shopping spree. We needed some bread and rolls and also some pastries to go with our ice cream for tomorrow's dinner with Cleggs. When we got there, we decided to buy what we needed and take it back home now rather than waiting until later this afternoon.

After doing that we caught the bus going down Calle Peron right outside our apartment building. We have wanted to take the bus to this area of San Isidro to see where it goes and how long it takes, so today was the day. While walking towards our shopping area after getting off the bus, we got a phone call from Maria who wanted our phone number. She told us that we would be getting a surprise call in a minute. Well, we figured that one out. We knew she had been in contact with Elder Clegg, so we assumed they wanted to get in touch with us. Right we were as a call came from Laurie. We confirmed our dinner date tomorrow and that I would be going to church with them. I can't believe they are here!

We were successful in shopping, and by the time we made it home, it was 4:00. I couldn't stop for a nap, although I really wanted one, so I continued cleaning. I set the table so it would be ready for Sunday dinner, hoping that everyone would like Ravioli.

It has been a satisfying day knowing our daughters were packing and preparing to come, and that the Cleggs were safely here and we would be seeing them tomorrow. Until then . . .
