Meet Some Members - Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010

With a cloud cover for the third straight day, it made our bedroom seem extra dark at 6:00 when it was time to get up. Oh, morning does come early on some days.

The two hours and fifteen minutes before we leave for church is enough time to read more in Alma, grab something for breakfast -- but no time for The Undaunted. Rich needed to spend a few more minutes on his Sunday School lesson.

Our remise driver who took us to Tigre today is one we have been with many times before. He knows some English and likes to use it on us as we travel. However, today he made an unscheduled detour when we got to Tigre to take us past his mother's home, the home where he grew up. He said his mother is 90 years old. He is 64.

The speakers today were Sister Carbajal, the R.S. President, and our representative from the High Council. We were looking out on a lot of people in the congregation today. There were a lot of investigators and that was good to see. Our missionary force in Tigre is still Hermanas, and we have a trio at the present time.

Elder Kroff's Sunday School lesson was on The Gift of the Holy Ghost, having changed to that lesson from the one he intended to give on Charity. We had a confirmation of a young man today that was baptized during the week and Rich stood in the circle as he was confirmed. He was impressed to teach about the gift of the Holy Ghost at that time.

Members come to church by walking, in a remises, on a bus, and some ride bikes. Cidria Luna and her daughter, Valentina, rode their bikes to church today. They are stalwart members.

This is a cute, cute couple in the branch. They are Fernando and Claudia Corta. They have been married two years, each having served a mission previously. Fernando served in our mission, the Buenos Aires North, and Claudia served a Spanish speaking mission in California at the Visitors Center. In addition to her duties at the visitors center, she would teach investigators in the evening. They both speak pretty good English and we have enjoyed getting to know them. Sister Corta is the Young Women's President in the branch.

These two missionaries might be old and forgetful, but we enjoy what we are doing. We never tire of one another and are so grateful to be on this mission together. What a blessing it has been to serve with the other missionaries and help bring the gospel to the people here in Argentina. This is a life changing experience!
