Help in the Office - Monday, Feb. 22, 2010

Another heavy cloud cover today with forcast of rain increasing as the day goes on. Oh, goodie! It hardly seems fair that the ground is so saturated with water here, when our poor dry climate in Utah could use some of this moisture.

We enjoy our morning of listening and reading, even if all of what we are engaged in right now are going through stressful times. If it isn't the wars going on between the Nephites and Lamanites in the Book of Mormon, then it is the hardships of what those faithful pioneers have encountered or will yet encounter as they proceed towards Hole in the Rock. We are on Chapter 52 of The Undaunted, and since we are listening to the story because we have no book in hand, we will have to ask the Doyles how far along we are. That seems like a lot of chapters, but maybe there are that many more. Don't know!

We knew when we got to the office today that we would have three elders in our midst. Elder Peterson came to Argentina in December and has been moved around a little. Right now, probably until the next transfer in March, he will be in a trio with our office elders.

Elder Peterson is from Wayne county in Utah, by Capital Reef. He is very cute and a very pleasant elder. He came to us just at the right time to bail me out with a busy time consuming copying and cutting project that the President has requested. To provide each companionship in the mission with 100 copies of baptismal invitations that we printed off the computer, we have to copy and cut 7800 of them. I could not see the light at the end of the tunnel on this one because the President wanted to give them out this week when he conducts his interviews. The total represents all the companionships in the South too, but they won't get theirs until I send them down with the supplies at transfer time. So we need 6400 for this week.

Elder Peterson has been an angel sent at the right time to help deliver this project. Using two paper cutters, we both started out the morning working together cutting what I had copied off on Friday. But, then I had to start on my packets for the leaving missionaries so I left him on his own. I kept the printing going, but he cut and stacked about 5000 copies. We only have 200 left to do tomorrow to reach the 6400 number. The balance for the South can be done a little later. Whew! I let him know grateful I am for his help.

These packets for the ones going home will be done tomorrow. They, of course, are not near as time consuming as the binders, but are good to get out of the way.

President Argyle came in the afternoon and worked in his office on his computer and stayed until 5:00 when we went home, probably because of the terrific rain storm going on outside. Again, today, it just pour bucket fulls. It was just drizzling when we left the office, and President Argyle gave us a ride home. He is good to us.

Elder Kroff was waiting all evening for our Branch Mission Leader in Tigre to call him with the time that they were going to give Brother Rodriguez a blessing before some eye surgery he is having this week. But the call never came. So, we turned on more of the men's figure skating at the Olympics. We never hear who has won, so it is all new to us as we watch taped events. We have enjoyed what we have seen. We are getting our money's worth with the $5.00 we spent to download the skating events, I'd say. It just takes me longer to get the journal entry done because I get interested in what's on the TV screen. It is now 11:00 and I am just finishing.

Goodnight!

  1. Undaunted has 72 chapters! Nice work...and how wonderful for you to get someone sent to work on the "invitations" just as you needed him! It's the daily miracles that are so faith-promoting! Love you.
