Cleaned & Polished

Some days having nothing special to capture in a photo is frustrating. But, not remembering to find something is even more frustrating. That sums up today.

We woke up today just amazed that it was Friday again. We think time goes faster here in Argentina than in Utah. When we mentioned tonight to President Argyle that we had reached the six month mark on our mission, he was surprised as well.

Elder Kroff and I worked alone in the office during the morning as the other two elders had taken the President's car up to the Capital to run some errands and then drop the car off to get serviced. They were given a loaner car to bring home. It turned out that the loaner car was the same one we had turned in several weeks ago.

I started preparing my order of supplies that we need from the Distribution Center. I need to place our order for copies of the Book of Mormon, Placas (missionary name tags) and the regular things the missionaries need like pamphlets to hand out, personal journals, scripture totes, New Member Kits, etc. Then I need to see what the computer says about how many copies of the Book of Mormon we are allowed to order. I order the maximum every time and still could use more.

I didn't get the order sent off because we were interrupted with a cleaning service that came to get our office ready for the dedication on Sunday. They had about five guys hauling in carpet cleaning equipment, mops, vacuums, and cleaning supplies. We could have at least taken a picture of this to document the day. We had to clean everything off our work areas so they could polish things up good. They even took the windows out to clean them, and cleaned the carpet in the President's office (which really didn't need it because he is rarely in there) It surely would be great if this was done twice a month or even monthly. The guy who cleans the church cleans our office too. But it is a lick and a promise type job.

The guy in charge told Rich that his cleaning service is contracted by the church to do special cleanings of churches throughout Argentina. Really?? in all of Argentina?? Now that would include some serious travel to get to from place to place. Maybe he has people in other cities working for him. When he left, he sprayed some wonderful smelling stuff throughout the office. I wish I had some to spray in my apartment. It smelled fresh and heavenly.

When they were done, the elders returned and were glad they were gone while all this activity took place. Elder Nelson came back hungry to attend the temple tomorrow on "P day. He thought that if the President didn't need the car until tomorrow night, that possible we could ask him if the four of us could go to the temple in the morning. They are going to close the Buenos Aires temple in a month or two for some renovation, remodeling, and cleaning. It may be closed several months. He wanted to get one more session in before that happens. We have only been once since being here and I would like to go again before it closes also. He elected us to call and ask the President.

We told him we would call after we got home and would let them know. No sooner did we reach home when the President called us. The first thing he said was, "Is the van back?" We told him it wasn't but that we had one in it's place. He said he had a lot to do and many places to go and would be by for it. Could he come by and pick us up to go to the office and get him the keys and then he would drop us off back home. We elected to just meet him back at the office. Rich wanted to exercise his leg by walking. Elder Nelson was disappointed, to say the least, when we told him the news.

We had the President drop us off at the Farmacia which is by Disco and McDonalds. That was our night out to get our drugs, eat at McDonalds, and get a few groceries at Disco. We have to be careful how many items we buy because we have to carry them home. Good thing it is only about three or four blocks away from where we live. We got home around 8:15.

Tomorrow morning the elders are coming for breakfast and haircuts. Elder Nelson trusts me, but I don't know about Elder Paz. He says he does. Well see!
