A Dedication?

As we were approaching the office today, we met some elders that were going to Immigrations up at the Capital with Elder Nelson. They were finalizing the process for obtaining their Visas. I really enjoy meeting the elders he takes because I have spoken with many of them on the phone several times and it is fun to finally meet them face to face.

While we were working today, in came the man who has been in charge of getting our office built, furnished, repaired, etc, etc. He comes every now and again and scurries around writing things down, calling for something to be done, asking questions, and taking pride in what he has accomplished. Well, today when he came he was looking around and would say things like, "We'll have to get that fixed before Sunday." or "We'll have the President's carpet cleaned by Sunday." Finally Elder Kroff asked "Why by Sunday?" The man declared, "For the dedication, this office is going to be dedicated Sunday at 6:00 p.m. What??? We knew nothing about it. He jokingly said, "Do you know President Argyle?" We chuckled and wondered when we would learn about it, or if he forgot to invite us. Then he told us that a cleaning crew would be coming in on Friday to get everything in order, and that we would have to clean up our work stations and put stuff away. They are going to clean the kitchen too, so that means the elders can't cook or eat any food in there over the weekend. We are glad to have a heads up on this now, as President Argyle won't be home from the South until Friday night. We have no idea who is invited to this event and what is going to take place, and more important - - who is going to dedicate it?

We received four more missionary applications today, one more for November, one for December (that now makes 23 arriving in Dec.) and two for January. I better start now making the carpetas for the December group since there are so many. I am ready, however, for the September transfer.

Sometimes we get a missionary coming to us that has been elsewhere working while waiting for a visa. That is the case this Thursday when Hermana Mora, from Mexico, will be arriving.

We came home and changed clothes, ate some dinner, and got ready to go for physical therapy. I entertained the idea of staying home, but Rich feels more comfortable having me there since the therapist, Mariana, is a woman. I guess I am kind of like the chaperone. She is a sweetheart, and we are old enough to be her parents for sure, but he says it just feels more appropriate. Besides, we are companions and should be together at all times, I guess.

The bicycle is easy, he says. He has strong leg muscles so it doesn't tax him too much. This is a ten minute workout.

This is lifting weights. . . well, one weight, by extending his leg backwards. That didn't hurt him either.

This was the one he dreaded doing as he eyed it each week sitting in the corner. Surprisingly, he didn't have a problem with it either. She said his knee is really healing nicely and she is pleased with his progress.

She then massaged his leg muscles which were tight and firm after the stress put on them from the equipment. He always feels 100% better after leaving the appointment. He is a fan of physical therapy.

When we got home, we received a call from Elder Valente. He is leaving this area and being transferred to a zone called Congreso. It is up by the Capital. He wanted to say goodbye and will be at the office at 8:00 tomorrow morning. So I need to hustle maƱana to be there by that time.
