Moving On

We walked to the office trying to dodge a few rain drops. The temperature was definitely cooler than last night when we were battling mosquitos and humidity.

Only Elders Nelson and Paz walked through the door this morning. Elder Valente wasn't with them. The President made some changes this weekend, and he put Elder Valente with two other missionaries who are new to this area so he could help them become better acquainted with the members and who the investigators are. Then, next week, after the President comes back from the zone conferences in the South, he will be reassigned again -- probably to an area not close to San Fernando.

We haven't bid him farewell just yet because he will be in and out of the office this week answering questions that Elder Paz will have as he assumes his new responsibilities. This afternoon when he came through, the only comment he made about being a full time missionary now is that they sure have done a lot of walking since he has been with them yesterday and today.

These are the flowers Elder Valente gave me on our anniversary. And today, four days later, they still look pretty good.

As the day progressed, so did a driving rainstorm. I was so glad we didn't have anywhere to go and that we brought our lunch with us. We always bring it, but today I was grateful. The weather report says we are having rain the rest of the week.

Our work today at the office was steady, but not stressful. So we were able to leave fairly early. We managed to leave around 5:00 and came home to dinner, some serious ironing, and the movie of the night, East of Eden -- the movie that made James Dean a star.
