Today was the first of ten zone conferences being held. Each day I prepare for the one tomorrow. The mail and supplies for the zones in the South will be sent out this week so they will be there in two weeks when those zone conferences begin. I spent some time boxing everything up and putting labels on them. Then we call a carrier service to take them. I also ordered cartons of copies of the Book of Mormon to be sent down South right from the Distribution Center.
Rich spent a frustrating day not being able to send data that puts money on the missionaries cards. We had a power bleep last Thursday and it made our internet go down. We struggled with it on Friday and a local fix it man came. He monkeyed around unplugging and switching and plugging things back in and finally got the internet working, but we still could not send any data. So today Rich called Salt Lake and he was on the phone for 2 hours with them as they tried to figure out what went wrong. It is a good thing Rich knows as much as he does about computers, because he aided them from this end troubleshooting and locating the problem. It appears the local dude hooked things up wrong and it didn't allow the data to transmit. One main cable turned out to be the problem. So now all is well, but we didn't get home tonight until 7:30.
Rich said that the people in Salt Lake that he has had to call occasionally are so nice. They never make him feel like he is bothering them. They are glad to help and thank him for calling. I'm sure with the worldwide missionary force, that Salt Lake deals with hundreds of calls daily to keep all systems up and running.
Elder Nelson made some delicious fudge and brought it to the office today. I can't believe what a good cook he is. He says that his Betty Crocker cookbook gets a good workout from him. There is plenty left for tomorrow's enjoyment too.
