I learned from last Saturday that I couldn't sleep in very late because I am "on call" with my doctor duties from 9:00 until 11:00 in the morning. Last week I received a few calls and it threw off my whole schedule in getting ready for the day. So today I was prepared. I was showered, makeup on, and hair done by 9:00. I only had one call and it lasted about 5 minutes. Oh well, at least I was ready for the day, and it was good news because that means we don't have any really sick missionaries today.
The elders were picking us up to go food shopping with them at 11:00. Rich really could have driven us to do our shopping when the elders were through with the car, but these plans were already made. However, we did venture out later in the day to the Unicenter mall to shop for Mekhi's birthday gift. Rich can put his foot down and walk with the help of the crutches to take the weight off his leg. He isn't fast by any means, but he is mobile.
When we got inside the mall, we found a bench for him to sit on while I walked around trying to find the store we wanted. We weren't sure where it was located. Once found, I went back for Rich so he could come with me to make the purchase. Then we found a McDonald's on the same floor, so we had lunch. In fact, there are three McDonald's in this mall. The one we ate at was really busy. If the others follow suit, then they do a good business here at the Unicenter. We made our way slowly to the car and came directly home. Rich said his leg was starting to have a burning sensation. Time for a rest! But, I was so grateful he was willing and able to make the trip because we barely have time for the gift to arrive in time for the birthday. We don't know what next week will bring after having the MRI on his leg on Monday.
This is a picture of how most dogs are walked to get their exercise. Most everyone, it seems, has a dog, and not small ones either. When the owners don't have time to walk their dogs, they hire it done. We see herds of them all tied together with someone walking them. I'm not sure how it works with the walker on a bicycle. This is a small group. I want to capture a shot of one of the large groups. The apparatus they use to link all the leashes together is interesting. It would require a pretty strong arm to control all of them. Since I am playing the piano for Sacrament Meeting tomorrow, I wanted to practice my hymns, so I decided to walk up to the church and use that piano. It worked out great, because no one was using the church tonight. I can enter from our office. It had rained while I practiced, but was just misty as I walked home.
The rest of the evening was spent giving Elder Kroff a hair cut, talking to Sister Argyle about some medical matters, receiving a couple of calls from missionaries with problems, and learning that Rich's iPhone can be used as a pitch pipe. I am responsible for the hymns in Relief Society also, and I don't know if they will have a key board available. I know they don't have a piano, as R.S. is held in a small classroom. To sing acapella, it would be nice if I started them out on the right key. The correct pitch would be helpful.
