We woke up to a brisk, cool temperature, but by the end of the day it was breezy, mild, and warmer than usual. Inside, however, was still cold if the heater was off.
Two of the Elders went on some apartment errands, and Elder Kroff and Elder Nelson went to the bank to pay some money so we can start the DNI process on about 10 Elders and Sisters. This part of my work got a little behind while all the training was going on. Now we are going to focus on getting all of these missionaries their temporary residency. This is in addition to their required Visas.
While everyone is gone from the office, leaving me there alone, we have to put the phone on night mode because I can't answer it should it be a Spanish speaker on the other end. But the trip to the bank took less time than expected, which is unusual, so Elders Kroff and Nelson returned within a half hour. I was pleased!
I spent a good part of the day filling out a lot of paperwork and DNI forms for these missionaries that need processing. The other part of my day was asking questions and more questions of Elder Clegg, and making sure I understood things that I was unsure about. You see, it has been almost three weeks since Elder Clegg's replacement came. I'm sure the time is close when the President will say it is time for him to leave the office. President Argyle doesn't give the missionaries much notice when they are being transferred.
The three amigos will be split up soon. They have enjoyed their time together. Elder Nelson is a quick learner and has meshed well into office life. We enjoy him too.Along with all we had to do today, we were anxious for the mail to come. Our new debit cards are in the mail and should be here momentarily. They are replacing the one we left in the ATM machine and had to be cancelled. We were hoping today would be the day as our rent is due, and the list of things we need to purchase at the store is growing. But, nothing today. So we decided that we would have Marianne wire us some money through Western Union again. This she did, and we had to get to the Post Office where the WU is located before their 6:00 p.m. closing time. As soon as we got the email from Marianne giving us the "go ahead", it was 5:35 and Rich took off for the Correo. I stayed behind because he could get there faster without me. I can't walk that fast. He arrived at 5:45 and took a number, and then got to the window at 5:55. Whew!! Five minutes to spare. BUT. . . they didn't have the amount of money we were asking for. They were out! Sure they were!!! Does Western Union ever run out of money? Rich thought that it was probably too close to closing time and they didn't want to bother with it. They told us to go to one in San Isidro. They said that one always has money. Just one more example of how hard it is to get things done here.
We are looking forward to tomorrow morning. The office staff is going to breakfast at the Mission Home. Yumm!
