Almost Heart Failure

Tonight after work, Rich went out with the Elders to go visiting. Since they are three in number right now, they wanted to split up to cover more ground. They frequently ask Elder Kroff to go with them, so two went one way and two the other. That was about 5:00. I had to wait for the President to come by to sign some checks, and then I left about 5:30. It gets dark by about 6:00 now, so I didn't want to be out walking home by myself when the sun goes down.

We don't mind being out at night on the streets if we are with the Elders, but we don't feel comfortable walking around by ourselves after dark.  The Elders agree. They say it is different for two young guys to be in white shirts and ties walking around at night, than it is for an older American couple walking around. Our image makes us look like we have money, and we are vulnerable because of our age. So we choose to stay in after dark. . . . safer that way!

So when I got home, I decided I would check for emails and maybe start our journal entry earlier.  I knew Rich liked to put our computer in one of his dresser drawers. I saw him head that way this morning. He feels that if someone broke in and then got interrupted and had to leave in a hurry, that the computer might be spared if it wasn't in plain sight on the table. So, I opened the drawer and it wasn't there.  I check the other three drawers and still no computer. "Alarmed" was an under statement!!!  I started looking everywhere, pulling open every drawer in our apartment. The more drawers I opened, the more panicky I became. There was no where else to look.  Nothing else seemed to be missing, just the computer. I thought, "Oh no, not
again."  Then, I found it. He had hidden it at the bottom of the laundry basket. Relieved? Whew, yes! He said he started to put it in the drawer, and then thought of the laundry basket. He said it would take thieves longer to find it. Well, it was a pretty good hiding place. He had me fooled for a while. He apologized for not telling me.Justify Full

One thing I really want to do and need to do is learn more Spanish.  I understand much more than I can say.

Elder Halsted is the missionary that we had to take care of for a week in the mission office.  He was having a problem with his knee and contemplated going home because of it. Gladly, he didn't. We would bring him to our apartment for the evening until the other two office Elders were finished teaching. Then, they would come and get him as he was staying nights with them. He really wanted to teach me some Spanish, so we studied together a couple of nights when he was with us. He actually did a pretty good job. Those were the days in between computers. It is harder, now, to take time to study when I want to get our updates done. But, I have to make the time.
