Apartment Living

Today was a much cooler day and we didn't feel any humidity in the air.  It was great!  Maybe this is the beginning of fall.  But I must say our skin feels a whole lot softer in this climate.  My dry, cracking, fingers have all cleared up.  I hardly have to use any hand lotion.  For the next couple of days we are suppose to have rainy weather, then it is to clear up for the weekend. One thing we notice with this humidity is that things do not dry very fast.  Since we have to hang our laundry to dry, it surprised us that in the morning some things were still a little damp. We weren't used to it.   That is unheard of in Utah.

Today, the apartment contractor that the president hired to maintain all the missionary apartments came today to fix two leaks that we had.  One was connected to the washing machine.  Everytime we washed clothes, water would appear on the floor.  Sound familiar, Doyles?  (They had a major problem over in Switzerland)  But we found the problem and he came to fix it today.  Then we had a small water drip under the kitchen sink.  I guess he did that one too.   He is really good to keep on top of problems.  We see him regularly either at church, or he comes to the office to coordinate things with the office elder in charge of apartments.

One thing we like about our apartment is that we have hot water on demand.  So we have it whenever we want it and for as long as we want it.  No short showers for the second one in line at this place.

The thing we hate is that we only have ONE plug outlet in the front room, but there are three in the bedroom.  Strange!!!

These are the keys to the building and our apartment.  It looks like something from the early 1900's or keys that belong to a castle.   They are quite cumbersome and heavy, but interesting.

Our bathroom is definitely a one person at a time room.  I miss not having a counter on the sides of the sink.

The extra "toilet looking thing" in the bathroom is called a Bidet.  It is not to be used as a toilet.  We had one in Italy also.  The room is deceiving in this picture because it doesn't look that small, but believe me,  there is not room for two.

This is a view from our balcony.

We can see this roof top garden from our balcony.  A little lady goes up there daily to water and tend to her plants.  Rich has fun watching her.

Tomorrow, we are going to be in the office by ourselves.   The office Elder's "P" day is Saturday, not on Wednesday like all the rest.  But because they will be watching General Conference all day, the president is letting them have preparation day on Thursday.  So that leaves us alone. They are coming to do their emails home when we go to lunch, so if we have any questions, we can ask them then.  Thankgoodness!!!
