Arrival at the MTC

We were one of the last couples to arrive at the MTC.  Final preparation in leaving home took longer than we expected.   We had to say quick goodbyes which was probably good.   The pictures we posted do not have any of Melissa in them because she was taking the photos, but we really did hug and kiss her also.

After being whisked away, we met with various volunteers that gave us schedules and supplies that we would need.  Then we went to lunch.   Our orientation started at 1:00 p.m. and lasted until 4:00.  The opening song was, of course, Called to Serve.  We had to pause while singing a few times, and especially where "Forward, Pressing Forward" appeared.  It was too emotional thinking of all the times it has been played, and sung around the house.  We could hear Mekhi belting it out.

All the single sister missionaries and the couples stood and told where they were from and where they would be serving their missions.   Many have office assignments like us, and there were a lot of humanitarian and genealogy missions.  We were the only ones going to South America.  Other assignments were Africa, the Congo, Cambodia, Philippines, Australia, Tonga, Italy, and many in the States.  We didn't find ourselves wishing we had been called to any of those missions.  We felt we were called to our mission by inspiration, and that Argentina is where the Lord wants us to serve.

One couple in our group will have a son enter the MTC on Wednesday.  How would that be?
After being excused for the day, we went the cafeteria for dinner.  What a scene!! Young Elders and Sisters everywhere.  It was exciting to be surrounded by so many high energy, spirited young people.

We then went to our room to unpack and do our homework.  We had to read lots from Preach my Gospel in preparation for tomorrows activities.   It was an exciting and fulfilling day, but we are exhausted. . . . emotionally and physically.    We will sleep well tonight.
