Getting Ready - Monday, November 15, 2010

We need blackout drapes. Argentina is not on daylight savings time and it is that time of year when it is very light in our bedroom at 6:00 a.m. In fact, it is starting to be noticeably light at 5:00 and it is hard to stay asleep. I should just get up, but can't force myself to do it.

It is still quite comfortable temperature wise and we hope it stays this way for three more weeks, but we aren't holding our breath. Today was wonderful, in the low 70's!

I organized packages in my supply room so that I can give them to missionaries who come in for transfers on Tuesday. A big order of placas came on Friday so I am hoping to give many of them away on Tuesday as well.

Rich and Elder Paz went to WalMart to get pillows and bought all they had. They wanted thirty, but settled for twenty.

Elder Peterson worked on transfers and finding flights for those going and coming from the South. Because he didn't get the information until today, there were no flights available for Tuesday travel. He's working on it to find the earliest flights he can.

We gave Andrea one of the little mini quilts that Melissa made and brought with her last month. She is the cleaning gal that keeps our building and grounds spotless. She was so happy to get it and when Lucila, the manager, was talking to us last week, she said Andrea showed it to her and was even a little emotional when talking about receiving it. Andrea said she had the perfect place to put it in her home. She is such a sweet person and we have enjoyed talking to her as we see her from time to time around the building. We are going to make her a copy of this picture we took and put it in a Book of Mormon for her.

After lunch today, Rich and I took the car and went to Coto to get some bags of carmelos that we keep around to munch on and to give out as a treat when missionaries come to the office. We have been out for a week now, and all of us were in withdrawal. A trip today was necessary so we can get through transfers. While there, we did some of our grocery shopping. We had no time on the weekend to do it, so this was a good time while we had the car.

We returned to the office and I worked on my desk manual for training Sister Schoeny. They entered the MTC today. Oh, I can't believe this is happening!! They should be here in two weeks if all goes well.

I had plans to start packing tonight, but having two entries to do tonight put that idea on hold. Last night we couldn't get on the internet, so I was unable to record Sunday's activities. That happens way too often here.

Not all homes are humble dwellings in Buenos Aires. On our way to Puerto de Frutos in Tigre on Saturday, we walked past this nice large home. So they do exist and are a reminder that there are people here who have money.
