A Day at Home - Saturday, November 6, 2010

We slept in until 7:00 and it always amazes us when we take our ear plugs out how noisy the street is below us. And, with the window open it is even worse. So these little foamy yellow things work wonders.

Our plan was to stay home today and work on our homecoming talks, but first we had to get our Saturday work done. The sheets were changed and Rich took them and the towels over to the lavanderia. We vacuumed, damp mopped the floors, cleaned the bathroom, and did some dishes. We didn't hurry, but it doesn't take long!

After a bite to eat for lunch, we read two conference addresses that Rich found on the computer. One was by President Benson and the other by Elder Holland. Rich said it was to get us in the mood for revelation -- sort of like singing a hymn before a meeting. Then we talked for quite a while about our mission and what this experience has meant to us. We discussed people we knew and how the gospel has blessed their lives, the branches and ward we were assigned to, our office work, the missionaries, the two Presidents, our growth, and more. It was revealing how much we've learned and experienced! How we are going to miss it!

Then we took a nap. We rationalized that we needed to let it all sink in over a half hour of sleep. Rich was awake before me, but I didn't wake up for an hour and a half. All this week I have not been to bed before midnight, sometimes later. So I needed to kick back on this P-day.

We decided on Peruvian food for dinner so Rich left and went to get some Chaufa (15 pesos and enough for us to share) at a nearby restaurant. While he was gone I said a prayer for inspiration so I could get started on my talk and put together the feelings and thoughts in my heart to describe our mission here in Argentina.

As we ate dinner, we read some news headlines on the computer and found that TCU beat Utah 47 to 7 today. We were then excited that BYU beat UNLV by a large margin but learned soon after that UNLV has a poor record this year. Oh well, it was a win anyway.

So, I haven't left the house today. Rich only left long enough to get our dinner. After finishing this entry I will resume my talk. It feels good to at least get started on it.

Tomorrow will be an exciting day. Olga is being baptized after church in Tigre. We are going to attend.

  1. We were sad to see Utah get crushed. I was hoping for a close, exciting game. BYU, on the other hand, played well and I think they are going to be just fine. Next week's game will be the real test.

You'll have to give us the meeting time and address of your chapel in Tooele. It doesn't matter what you say, it's the spirit that everyone can feel...Love ya!
