Loved Conference - Sunday, October 3, 2010

Nothing to do this morning but sleep in and get ready for conference. It was a nice relaxing Sunday morning, because for us conference starts at 1:00, not 10:00. I should have been able to get caught up on my blog entries, but didn't. We still had to leave home at 11:30 in order to get to Bonpland by 12:30 so we could see Music and the Spoken Word before conference started.

It was absolutely a gorgeous day outside. Perfect!! I still folded my coat up and put it in a bag to carry with us in case it was cool coming home, since the sun would be down when conference ends at 7:00.

After our train ride, we waited for a bus to take us the rest of the way to the Area Offices. It wasn't a long wait, and we arrived at our destination right at 12:30.

Everyone but one couple came early to see and hear the choir and the Spoken Word. Sister Grieve made cinnamon rolls to share which were gladly received. Yesterday we purchased some cookies with chocolate frosting to munch on during conference.

Again today the messages were uplifting and inspiring. We need this shot in the arm every six months to keep us going. What wonderful leaders we have. Remarkable men and women! Of interest to us was the next to the last speaker on Sunday. Elder Mervyn B. Arnold is our new Area President and will be on a mission tour with us next Monday and Tuesday.

Hawaiian Haystacks were enjoyed for lunch during the sessions, and homemade banana cream and coconut cream pies were served for dessert. It was a delicious treat.

We took the traditional group picture with several new faces. From left to right are Grieves, Music Missionaries (Springville, UT), Davidsons, Executive Sec. to Elder Arnold (Texas), Cundick, Auditor (Leeds, UT), Lucas, Perpetual Education, serving in Paraguay after training (Coleville, UT), Hollingsworth, (doctor from Canada), Kroffs, mission office.

We left for home after conference arriving here at 8:30. What a wonderful day listening to prophets, and getting to know new people.
