It was noticeably warmer when we got up this morning and stayed that way all day. No gloves or scarves around the neck today. However, we still need a fair amount of heat pumping into our office. That doesn't seem to change much.
We arrived at the office the same time as the elders and we always look forward to seeing them, and they us. We exchanged greetings, stories, comments on office emails, plus thoughts about President Argyle returning home today wondering if he would pay us a visit.
The telephones started ringing and we all received calls, but most of them this morning were for Elder Hales and Elder Kroff. It's okay with me because if I get them it is usually sick missionaries. I made my share of calls about baptism registers that I haven't received yet, and the common response is, "Oh, Sister Kroff, I am so sorry - I forgot" or "We need the signature of the Bishop." I know the drill, but I still have to call them. I never get mad because everyone is soooo nice and respectful. I just tell them I would appreciate receiving it "today" or as soon as possible. They always comply. Ya gotta love em!
Elder Kroff finished his calls to the zone leaders about their zone money which is always a good thing to get done, and the elders were busy at their desks. Elder Peterson, however, is experiencing a slight lull in his workload right now which will pick up in about a week, but Elder Hales feels swamped. He set a goal of June 30 to have all the landlords contacted about changing to electronic rent payments, and he is feeling the pressure of meeting that deadline. No one is making him do it, he just imposed that upon himself.
Our cleaning guy came today to do our office. For two days he has been working over in the church to get it ready for stake conference which is this weekend. We move right out of his way and stack up our own baskets and papers so his job is easier in dusting our areas.
The elders left at 3:30 to go home to plan. Thursday afternoons are set aside for that companionship activity and these two are super obedient to all the rules. Elder Hales is sporting Elder Kroff's hat. It looked cute on him!
We left between 4:30 and 5:00 and stopped off at a little neighborhood store to buy some eggs, and to see if, just by chance, they might have some corned beef to go with our cabbage. Surprise!! They most certainly did. I couldn't believe it!!! So our dinner was defined for tonight. Yummm!
Rich stayed dressed up waiting for Ezequiel to call and tell him if they were going Home Teaching tonight to a couple of less active families. When the call didn't come, he called him to find out that Ezequiel could go tomorrow night, not tonight. Was that okay with me? Friday night is usually McDonald's and grocery shopping. But, missionary work trumps all!
A fun call came in on skype from California. Cousin Tyler Kroff was calling to let us join in with the family as he opened his mission call. A brother and sister were also tuned in on skype for the event. His call is to Boise, Idaho, Spanish speaking, to enter the MTC on Sept 1. Congratulations, Tyler!
Melissa and I spent a little while on skype chat typing back and forth. That's two nights in a row for us, even after talking on skype with Urban and family last night for his birthday.
It's 10:40 and time for bed. Until tomorrow night . . .
FINALLY, I get mentioned in your blog!!
