The holidays at the beginning of the week on Monday and Tuesday have mixed us all up. Yesterday seemed like a Monday again, and here it is Friday tomorrow. So this week has really flown by.
Since we have a "short" week to get all of our work done, we were anxious to get to the office, but not near as anxious as the pioneers in Fire of the Covenant are to get to the valley. Our story is almost over and it is a relief that the immigrants are now riding the rest of the way in the rescue wagons.
President Argyle told us a while back that this week would be the only time before he leaves that he could spend time in the office to help us fine tune any processes we do or answer any work related questions we might have. Yesterday he was here, but was tied up with some interviews for most of the day. So today he came and he was all ours.
Elder Peterson and Elder Hales used him the most and enjoyed the one on one time with him. He is not trunky at all and doesn't like to talk about leaving, but knows he has to prepare the mission for his departure, and create a smooth transition for President Gulbrandsen. For the whole three years, he has given this mission 100% of his time and talents. He is the most focused person we have ever met. Some of the previous assistants said he was a "machine." He never quits!
At 4:00, the elders asked Elder Kroff if he would stay at the church with them while they had a discussion with Mercedes. He helped them teach her on several ocassions and he was the one who baptized her. She has a couple of questions now that she is a member, and they wanted Elder Kroff there for support. Mainly, they trust his judgment and like his answers. However, she didn't show up!
This weekend we have the opportunity to feed missionaries again, so tonight we needed to go to Disco to get all the fixins for tacos. So that was our evening activity for a little while. Since transfers are coming up next week, the assistants think there is going to be a change. Might they know something that we don't?? Anyway, they asked if they could come to our place on Saturday for a farewell lunch and invite the office elders too, in case they are split up. Of course they can. We are always in the mood for a party! I was glad they indicated what they wanted to eat - easier for me than having to make that decision. And, tacos are a snap!
