Lots to Do - Thursday, April 29, 2010

Rich said the temperature went down to 48 degrees last night, but we had our window open and it didn't get overly cool in our bedroom. Maybe it is because we have a wool blanket on our bed. Then he said it was going to warm up to the low 70's by the afternoon. I didn't trust it to do that so I wore my coat to the office, which felt good in the morning, but maybe I would be carrying it home later on.

Today was a very busy and tiring day for me. In fact, each of us had projects that required our attention and there was very little talking going on. Mention was made as to how quiet we all were as we were ingrossed in our own pile of things to do.

After calling some missionaries regarding baptism questions, I spent most of the day in my supply room pulling the items for the Liniers conference tomorrow and taping up and addressing the boxes that are being sent to the zones in the south. I leave one open for each of the three areas until the morning the truck comes to get them. That way, if any mail should come, I can stick it in at the last minute. But in taping up one box, I noticed the name on one of the packages and realized that it was in the wrong box. I looked further in that box and there were two more. Good Grief!! Now what have I done?? I had already finished two boxes and that necessitated me slicing them open to recheck the contents. Nothing was amiss in them.

So I carefully checked the rest of the boxes, and repacked and labeled as necessary. It irritates me that I make mistakes when I think I have been so careful. I'm just glad I spotted that name because the destination those three packages were headed was a plane ride away from where they were suppose to end up. That would not have been good!!

By the time I got the conference bins filled and ready, my lower back was tender due to lifting, reaching, and bending for three hours. I was glad for a change.

I went back to my computer assured by Elder Peterson that he had fixed the problem with our computer program as instructed by Salt Lake. That he had done indeed! I began to enter what I had to do on the spread sheets and no error message popped up this time. Thanksgoodness! He warned me that if he came tomorrow and found an error message on my screen, he was going to walk right back out the door. I told him he wouldn't have to do that because my computer would be hanging by the cord from a tree limb outside somewhere if it happened again.

Elder Kroff took a stack of facturas (bills) to be paid at two Pago Rapidos in the neighborhood. He had about 15 utility bills in hand and got all but two of them paid. So he and Elder Hales worked on apartment bills and rents today. If they can get everything organized and all the electronic payments set up, then they are going to write specific instructions for their successors. Good idea!

At 4:45 when we left the office, I couldn't believe I was yawning several times as we walked home. I was tired, but didn't know I was sleepy too. I could have taken a nap in a heart beat, but refrained because I probably would be wide awake when it was really time to sleep. I fixed some dinner and read the Switzerland blogs, then started on this entry.

Rich walked back to the church to try to locate a Temple Preparation manual for his class on Sunday. The Branch President said he would have one for him on Thursday, but there was no sign of the BP there and no other activities going on. So Rich called President Palermo and he said he didn't know where to get one and would call someone in the Stake to see if they could locate one. Well, as Rich was leaving, he walked past the library and the door was open because it has a problem and workers have been trying to fix it. So he went in to look on the shelves and found 10 teacher manuals sitting there. He helped himself to one of them and recalled the Branch President to tell him what he found. I guess no one knew that there were any in the library, although that seems like a logical place, right?

Sorry, no pics today!
