End of a Busy Week - Friday, April 23, 2010

We woke up to a beautiful clear Friday with lots of sunshine promised. It was suppose to hit a high in the mid 60's, so we were brave and went to the office without coats anticipating a warmer afternoon for our walk home. Yes, it remained sunny, but never even reached 60 degrees. It was rather chilly all day and caused us to walk briskly home. A trip to the Farmacia found us with our fleece jackets on and, boy, did they feel good.

We only had about a half hour at the office before Rich and I had to leave for the mission home to address the Zone Leaders Council. It starts with a song and prayer and then President Argyle gives a mini lesson using the scriptures. Today's message was that we can accomplish anything with the help of God. Then, the time is turned over to me and I talk about the baptismal registers and give instructions as to how to fill them out properly, praise them for the good things they are doing with them, and point out the problems that still exist. Most of them have heard much of it before, but repetition is good. Elder Kroff takes a few minutes to talk about financial matters and then we are excused and off we go back to the office.

The two goals on my agenda today were to enter the rest of the baptisms that had been sent in, and sort all the letters for the missionaries to be put in their zone conference bins. I accomplished both!! I would enter a few baptisms, then work on the mail. It kept me alert and productive. Now, next Monday, I can start filling the requests from the missionaries.

Rich prepared a check for the President to sign, worked on getting the housing correct in IMOS, and balanced his drawer.

We didn't know when the President would pick up his car, but we know he always wants it for the weekend. It was pretty dirty and needed a good wash job and the inside vacuumed, so the young elders took it to get spiffed up. I think they forgot to fill it up, however. All three show off the Toyota Sharan. Today, Elder Peterson's International Driver's License came so now he gets a turn at the wheel when needed.

The afternoon just zipped by and soon it was time to leave. Luckily right before the elders walked out the door, the Distribution Center delivered our Book of Mormon order. The driver should bring a helper to unload the truck, but always depends on the elders to be there to do it. One day he is going to come too late and have to do it himself because Elder Kroff can't and won't lift those boxes anymore because of his knee injury.

After the trip to the Farmacia, we picked up a couple items next door at Disco and then spent a quiet evening at home. We had French Toast for dinner and enjoyed Skype calls from Marianne, and from Joel and Bob who were together organizing family pictures.

What's up for P-day tomorrow?? We are heading to the Capital to explore a shopping mall we heard about, and maybe some other sights nearby. Then it's movie night with the other matrimonials at the Fuqua's place. We won't leave our jackets home, either.

  1. We find it funny to read about your weather and how you are needing coats now, when we are in the opposite mode, going into Spring and beginning to wear short-sleeved shirts.

We never get to speak at the ZL council. What does Elder Kroff speak about? I was trying to envisage what I would say...
