Celebrating Easter - Thursday, April 1, 2010

We didn't forget about April Fool's Day, but we didn't play any jokes on anyone. They don't know about April Fool's Day here in Argentina.

We arrived at the office on time -- not early, just right at 9:00. We beat the elders, but not by much. After a few minutes reading emails and getting organized for the day, the elders told us to close our eyes and put our hands out. What the . . . how come?

Those sweet elders gave us an Easter gift. I felt bad that I hadn't brought the treat we bought them at the Convent. I planned on giving it to them on Friday. They even wrapped these gifts and put a bow on them. How cute is that!! I wore the perfect color to match the wrapping.

Inside the wrapping were hollow chocolate eggs with M & M type candies inside. This is a popular Easter treat. We see them all over in the stores wrapped in bright colored paper. I have wanted to see what they were like, so today was my day. We broke my egg open and found the candies inside. Everyone munched on pieces of the chocolate egg throughout the day. Elder Coria is holding up a picture of the resurrected Savior to offset the commercialism of the holiday.

It seemed like a good time to break out the Rosca de Pascua treat we bought at the Convent. Everyone was in agreement that it wasn't too early in the morning to eat a sweet treat. It was only around 9:30, however, but we were in the mood to get the Easter celebration under way.

The filling in this torta was actually set up like firm pudding. It was delicious and we all enjoyed every bite.

Elder Coria is trying to steal Elder Hales' cherry, but he didn't prevail. The elders had seconds, and there was still a couple pieces left that Rich offered the assistants when they came to the office later. So that cake is history!

I am so anxious to get started on my carpetas, but placing the order for supplies from Distribution trumps that project. So, I focused on making sure every needful thing was included on my list, then I pushed "send." I did a few odds and ends to clear the way so I could spend most of tomorrow on the new missionary binders. We have twelve new elders coming in the April transfer, no sisters this time.

The President returned from the South today, and we thought he might come by for his car, but so far we have not seen him. Elders Coria and Kroff have spoken to him on the phone, however.

The afternoon was uneventful with all five of us working at something. The elders left at 4:00 and we worked until almost 5:00. We were so hoping we would not have a repeat of the night before being without lights.

Our evening consisted of an easy dinner of Stir Fry (frozen package) to which I added chicken served over rice. It tasted good and filled our empty stomachs. I tryed to get this entry done last night so I wouldn't be a day behind, but I kept falling asleep at the computer, so I gave up and went to bed.
