Branch FHE - Friday, Feb. 26, 2010

Weather the same as yesterday. We're loving it! Maybe the hot sultry days are over since fall is coming. We don't remember suffering too much because of the heat and humidity when we arrived last March, so this may be the beginning of the change.

I loved today in the office because I was able to get a couple things done that had been bugging me -- like sending off all the welcome letters that I was behind on. If I didn't get them in the mail, the missionary would be here before it reached his home. Then I updated a spread sheet that the President uses when he works on the transfers. It lists all new ones coming and the ones leaving and has some kind of a formula with it that is information he needs to calculate if areas need opening or closing. I don't understand it, but all I have to do is make sure the list is correct.

Then, I emailed Sister Argyle with all the medical calls I have had for the past two weeks. Even though she is out of the loop, she still needs to know who has been sick and what kinds of medical problems the missionaries are having.

Elder Kroff went with the Assistants to a teaching appointment at 10:00. They could not find a member to accompany them to teach a sister, so they were desperate to find the third person that they needed. So, they asked Rich if he would have time to go with them. He willingly agreed to go and enjoyed the visit and being with the elders.

This is a picture of most of the Litoral zone. This is the one we are in, although we are not in the picture. Sister Argyle took the photo at the mini conference and interviews that were held this week. Four missionaries from our zone are leaving in the March transfer. The longer we are here, we become aquainted with more and more of these wonderful young servants. We have become good friends with several that are leaving us in March and it will surely seems strange without them around.

Since we have missionaries coming for lunch tomorrow, I could have used the whole evening to prepare food, but we pledged our support to attend the Branch Family Home Evening in Tigre. It is a good thing we went because other than five missionaries and the two investigators that the sister missionaries brought, there were only two other couples. We watched the CD The Testaments. Although it was in Spanish, I knew what was going on and really enjoyed it. It lasted a little over an hour, and then a short testimony meeting was held to allow thoughts and feelings to be shared about the movie. We felt there would have been better attendance if it had been announced a couple weeks in advance. Refreshments were served, and after partaking, we left when the sisters did to take the colectivo home. They got off before we did.

At 9:00 we came home to NO WATER! What?? I had cooking to do and it immediately put me in a bad mood. This has happened in the past for reasons we know not. After a little while, the cold water started coming, but no hot. We had to leave the taps on to "bleed" them of air and pretty soon the hot water started.

I had to finish making a potato salad and shred the remainder of my slow cooked beef for the BBQ beef on buns for tomorrow. I could have made the dessert, but I was too tired and it was getting close to 11:00 - 11:30.

No sleep in day for me tomorrow!!
