Friends in Tigre - Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009

Sunday mornings are always early for us, so we were up and out the door by 8:15. Our remise driver was new and other than practically running red lights, he drove rather slow not sure where he was going to get us to the Tigre chapel. Elder Kroff provided the necessary direction.

It has been fun this month playing the prelude music and practicing my songs for sacrament meeting because we are singing all Christmas hymns. I hope hearing the familiar music helps get the members in the spirit of the season.

Next Sunday is the Primary program in sacrament meeting. I will be unavailable next Saturday to practice with them in the chapel because we are going with the Argyle family and her parents on an outing all day. I suggested that we practice in the chapel during Primary time today. The president was agreeable so I was glad about that. There are only about eight children that come to Primary. Today they didn't rehearse any speaking parts, we just did the music. Another practice is set for Thursday, the 24th, at 5:00. They don't seem to care that it is Christmas Eve, and it fits in with our schedule, as at 7:00 we are invited to our Branch President's home for dinner. So we can be at the church for practice and then just walk over to the President's home which is only a block away. It will work out perfect.

After church everyone was staying around for picture taking, so we pulled out our camera too.

These are our two sister missionaries. Hermana Collinwood now has a new companion. Hermana Cano was transferred, being replaced by Hermana Rivera, from Chile. She is a brand new missionary joining the ranks of the Buenos Aires North Mission. She is a sweet sister.

Everyone wandering around after church gathered together for this group shot. Our branch president is wearing the Santa hat, flanked by his counselors.

The sisters in Relief Society hold up little homemade dolls with a calendar attached. They were made by Sister Carbajal, the R.S. president.

Some of the Priesthood brethren, young and old.

The Young Women plus two gathered for this picture.

The Solers wanted a picture with us. He is the branch mission leader, and she is the Family Preparedness specialist right now.

The picture taking made us miss our 12:15 bus to return home. So when we finally got out the door and to the bus stop we had to wait about a half hour for the next one to come. We were a little anxious to get home because Elder Davis was waiting to be delivered to our place to spend the afternoon and evening with us. Due to his hernia surgery he is unable to walk long distances and be as active as missionaries are.

He attended church with his other companions, (in a threesome) and was surely glad to change out of his dress up clothes into something more casual that didn't bind. We fed him spaghetti, tossed salad, and bread for dinner.

Elder Tucker Davis is from Castle Rock, Colorado, and has a sister that got her mission call the same day to serve in Argentina also. She is in the province of Buenos Aires too about 6 hours south of our mission. She is in the Bahìa Blanca mission. He is a cute missionary and is very polite and appreciative. We have enjoyed him. He told one of his companions that he would love it if the Kroffs could take care of him.

We all took a Sunday afternoon nap, then Rich and I worked on our Christmas letter (which we need to get sent) while Elder Davis read the Book of Mormon. The President encouraged him to use his "down" time for some quality studying. He is obeying the counsel.

  1. Castle Rock is about 30 min south of us. I bet Elder Tucker never had it so good - mom is the best care taker there is!
