This morning, all the office elders including Elder Kroff, left Sister Kroff alone in the office for three or four hours. They had errands to run and they dropped Elder Bloxham, who is going home today, off at the mission home. He is one of he AP's and only lives a couple of blocks from our office.
Only a couple of phone calls came, so it was really a quiet morning and welcomed by me because I had to concentrate on separating the letters and packages now that I know where all the missionaries will be for the next six weeks. It surprised me that I accomplished all of it in the length of time that the elders were gone. What a relief!! Now when the district leaders fax me back the list of supplies that everyone in their areas want, I will begin to fill the orders.
Soon, it was time for Elder Kroff and I to leave for the mission home so he could collect money that the missionaries need to turn back in, and to settle up with them on any money they owe for supplies they had ordered and hadn't paid for yet.
I love going with him because we get to see all the missionaries going home one last time and get to say goodbye to them. The problem is, we are getting to know so many of them well and have had fun times associating with them, and it is becoming more difficult to see them go.
We had to take one last picture with Elder Clegg. We have posted several throughout the eight months we have been here, but he holds a special place in our hearts. Not only was he my trainer when we arrived to the mission office, but having a relative serving in the same mission we had been called to was a thrill. He has been a perfect example of what a missionary should be like in obedience, hard working, and testimony. Truly a presidents dream!! We are fortunate that we will be able to see him throughout the years after mission life, some we will not.
The two hermanas in the group are Sister Howard from Oregon, and Sister Winters from Washington DC. We have been working with Sister Howard in our Tigre branch and have become very close to her. Oh, how we will miss her. She is quiet and soft spoken, and a very humble servant. We both had tears in our eyes as we said goodbye to her. Hopefully, we will be able to keep track of her as time goes on. She wrote us a sweet note in parting.
We lost a lot of Zone leaders and District leaders in this group of elders. Missions really make men out of these once young and inexperienced lads. They are wonderful!!!
We returned to the office and finished up miscellaneous things on our desks. Then we came home and ate some leftovers before we headed to Tigre to accompany the sisters to a teaching appointment. It is the Ninahuanca family that we have been assisting with these last couple of weeks. Come to find out, a few of the children we thought belonged to the couple really belong to another lady that lives with them. During the lessons, several different people would come in the door and we had no idea who they were or why they were there. Down here, one household can be comprised of two or three different families. Such is the case in this dwelling.
At 10:00 tonight, another meeting with tenants in our apartment building was held to continue trying to find a resolution for the robberies that have happened here. I chose not to go because I wanted to complete this entry and I can't understand them anyway. Rich came back an hour later with a smile on his face. He didn't gain too much from what went on because everyone talks at the same time and with much speed. They did give him the job of getting the signatures of two of the neighbors on our floor. We'll see how that goes.
