Off to Colorado - Tuesday, Oct 27, 2009

My eyes opened when the room was getting lighter, so I glanced at the clock. I read 6:02 and wondered why the alarm didn't go off. So I got out of bed and decided I better nudge Rich to wake him before I jumped in the shower. A couple of minutes later he came to bathroom door and said, "Do you know it is only 5:00?" Oh, for heavens sake!! I could have sworn that 5 was a 6. I would have really been upset at myself if I would have been in the shower already. It is hard to get old.

No rain in the forecast today, and a temperature of 73 is expected. But, a sweater was needed to walk to the office this morning. I have more cold weather clothes than hot weather ones, so I carefully plan what to wear of my lighter weight winter ones to stretch them out a little longer during these springtime temps. I don't want to break out my light weight cottons too soon or I'll get tired of them before the summer is over. Rich is still in long sleeves, but that will change when the humidity cranks up.

We are a little nervous and anxious because Melissa and Nate are moving to Colorado today. Nate has accepted a job there. This is the first time all of us have been split up with miles between us -- ever. Even though we were not there during all the packing and the goodbyes today, it is still emotional for us to think they are not in Tooele anymore. But, we are happy for them and realize they need a change, and that Heavenly Father will bless them in their new life away from us. We have always had our daughters around us. We have been spoiled. I once told Melissa that if they ever moved, they could ship Urban down to us. I think we'll check customs in a few days to see if he is there.

The President decided to leave the itineraries for the missionaries going home in tact. A more direct flight with less plane changes is best even if they have to spend several hours at the airport. They are young and adaptable. They'll find something to entertain themselves.

Our plan after we left the office was to walk to a fruit and vegetable market that we found and liked. It is only about four blocks from our apartment. We took our handy dandy cart on wheels to carry the produce home. How disappointed we were to find it closed. They were still on siesta. So we decided to walk over a block to a main street that has lots of activity and stores. There are fruit stands on that street every now and again, so maybe we can find what we need. What I really needed to find was a mercería (notions store). We are running out of velcro with a sticky side that adheres the tablero cards to the transfer board. I knew I would not have enough for the 24 that I have to make for December's incoming missionaries. With a few questions asked along the way, we found a mercería and the velcro. That's a load off my mind. Now to remember where the store is the next time we need it. That's the challenge.

We visited on skype with Marianne who already misses her sister. We are anxious to hear from Melissa.
