Always Busy

It happens almost every morning. I wake up between 5:30 and 6:00 and look at the clock. Then, knowing there is only a few minutes before "Called to Serve" comes on, I try to fall back to sleep. It is never a deep relaxing sleep because I am anticipating the alarm. So I am just barely under. I need to go to bed a half hour earlier to make up for that last half hour, I guess.

The days at the office go very fast. We are always busy and involved and before we know it, it is noon and time to eat lunch. Rich and I try to eat our lunch before the elders. On Tuesday and Wednesday, ward members fix them food. The Wednesday provider makes them food for Thursday also. So they only have Mondays and Fridays that they have to come up with something on their own. It is really time for me to make lunch for all of us. Friday is usually a good day for me to bring it.

Elder Kroff worked on the budget today. He is analyzing where the money is going and has been working out a system to collect the money that the missionaries spend on supplies. He is doing really well with the finances and I am so glad it isn't my job. He worried about being able to understand everything, but he has it down now.

I like what I do and it fits my personality being able to organize and keep the supply room stocked and running smoothly. I like entering the baptisms, although it is a big job because we have so many. It is important to me to get ALL of them entered timely each month, which requires many phone calls. When I use my cell phone, some elders answer with "Hola Sister Kroff." They know my number well. Preparing binders and packets for the missionaries, arriving and leaving is within my abilities, so I am comfortable with that. It is great that in this Spanish speaking mission there are still things I can do that don't require knowing the language fluently.

After work today, we went to McDonald's for dinner and then hopped on the bus to the big Carrefour we found last weekend. We were really in need of some serious grocery shopping. We thought Tuesday evening wouldn't be too busy of a night at the store, but the lines were unbelievable. A plus at this store is they have a remise service that will take the patron and their groceries home -- for a few pesos, of course. We were going to call for a ride anyway, but all we had to do was walk to a parking lot area and there were drivers there waiting for business. It was great! This may be our regular stop for groceries.

On Sunday, while walking from the train station on our way to conference, we passed a flock of parrots pecking at seeds on the ground, sitting on fences, or flying into a nearby
tree. They certainly were not afraid of people.

This was an interesting picture. It is an abandoned building and they bricked over the door. Then it looks like they are exposing the door for some reason. Who knows!!
