Tired Day

After going to bed so tired after last nights activities, we wondered if we would feel like getting up at the usual wake up time. But when "Called to Serve" came on, my feet hit the floor and I was on my way to a nice hot shower. Rich is more dedicated than I, and has started exercising with the use of the Missionary Health Guide that was given to us at the MTC. It includes a strong elastic band that provides resistance when pulled or stretched -- for strengthening muscles. He needs to keep exercising his leg so he uses this time to do it while I am in the shower.

On this, the second day of transfers, we go together to the mission home in the morning so Rich can settle up financially with those who are leaving. Since there were only two this time, it didn't take any time at all. I didn't even have to take my coat off. The President was talking to the elders, and Sister Argyle and Nancy were in the kitchen preparing the lasagna for dinner. They would eat at noon and leave at 1:00 for a 2:00 temple session. Then Elder Vega stays at the MTC overnight as his flight goes out in the morning. Elder Turnbow has to travel by himself all night and arrives home in Salt Lake tomorrow late morning.

Rich was really in need of having the President sign a check which he wasn't able to get ready and print for our first trip to the mission home. So after he got some things done and the check prepared, he decided to take a remise and go again to get the President's signature.

The standard delicious postre that the elders look forward to having when they depart the mission is this decadent chocolate trifle. It has layers of brownies, chocolate pudding, and whipping cream. When Rich got there for the signature, they had finished the main course and were just starting the dessert. They invited him to stay and have some, but he declined saying he would wait his turn. I reminded him that we probably won't get some of this particular dessert because the Argyles leave the mission two months before we do. He could have kicked himself!! He will probably find a way to get one made for him, however.

Rich is in the process of collecting money from the missionaries for the supplies they have requested over the past several transfers. It used to be deducted from the money the church gave to the missionaries each month, but the President found out that they were to purchase the items from their own money. Several calls came in today with missionaries "shocked" that they owe so much. So I have to go back over the request forms and make a list of what they ordered.

Today was somewhat of a stressful day for me. Everything I did would have to be done again. I kept making mistakes, so I was glad when it came time to go home.

We have been watching the progress of this apartment building being built. The thickness of the walls are just one layer of bricks, then they stucco over the bricks. No insulation, nothing -- just cement. We wonder if there are any building inspectors here.

The movie we watched to pass the time as white shirts were ironed and the blog was written was "Charade" with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.
