End of a Week

It did rain all night, but was just misty while walking to the office. We have never walked in a down pour. It always seems to clear up a little during the time we are out on the street. Someone is looking out for us for sure. We are always glad to be office missionaries on cold, windy, soggy days. My heart goes out to the elders and sisters that have to be out in inclement weather. But they just take it in stride, and we have never talked to one who really complains about it.

I ordered the flights home for the missionaries leaving at the end of January. It seems quite far in the future, but in reality four months will be here before we know it. The travel office prefers the reservations for large missionary groups be made four or five months early to insure that the seats are available and the group can go together. We have twelve leaving in January. I am always glad when I get a confirmation that the flight arrangements went through as ordered.

Rich spent the day tweaking the DVD that he put together for the President that will be shown at the special mission conference tomorrow morning. The missionaries sent in pictures of themselves with converts on the day of their baptisms. Rich added music and prepared the DVD that lasts about 5 minutes.

We were planning on going grocery shopping tonight after work, but the walk home discouraged us from going out again. It is rainy and cold with a fair amount of wind, so we decided to stay in tonight and after the conference tomorrow, we will decide where to go to pick up the necessary items that are on our list.

No new pictures were taken today, so we are sharing a few that we took last Saturday on our outing in the Capital. Gary and Reva Allred are serving a mission in the Area Offices as Welfare Missionaries. Their responsibilities allow them to do some traveling. They have been to several cities outside Buenos Aires. That would be one advantage to having that type of a mission. Elder Allred and Elder Kroff served in the West Mexican Mission at the same time when they were young missionaries. This is their second mission as a couple and they go home November 16. Their first mission was in Mexico.

As we walked around downtown Buenos Aires, we came across some trees that had cotton-like balls of fluff on them. They came from pods that hung from the trees. We couldn't reach the cotton balls, so we couldn't experience how they felt. But it was different and interesting.

This store was filled with lots of ornate chandeliers and antique looking furniture. We didn't go inside, just peeked in from the street.
