The BYU game made me get behind on our blog entries, so I am playing catch up by putting two days into one - yesterday and today. Sunday got it's own spot, so read on down.
Monday at the office was a normal, and somewhat calm day. We tried to find all that we had stashed away in drawers and the over heads. I sent off my Distribution Center order and the order for the missionary placas. Tomorrow the Book of Mormon order needs to go.
Elder Kroff walked to the banco and back which is about 10 blocks away. He said his leg feels better every day.
We were anticipating our after office schedule. The sisters called and asked us to join them for an appointment with one of their investigators. It is a lady that has been coming to church and listening to the discussions, but she hasn't committed yet to baptism. She is suffering from some psychological problems due to the death of her son who died while he was in jail. She is having a hard time getting over it. Does one ever? We aren't sure how long ago it was. We were afraid to ask. But we took the colectivo to Tigre and met the sisters at the church where the appointment was to be held.
The sisters and their investigator (I failed to get her name) arrived and we went inside the church. The sisters have keys to the church in case they need to use it for appointments.
During the discussion, they wanted to show her the baptismal font and explain more in depth about the ordinance. But, they didn't get that far. She has a hard time staying focused and keeps bringing up the past. They wanted Rich there to help explain about baptism.
After the sita (appointment) we all walked together a few blocks to a major intersection where several buses pass through. We all boarded the same bus which let the sisters and their friend off only a few blocks up the street. We, then, continued on to San Fernando.
We were a little tired and ready for bed. I tried to write on the blog, but sleep won over. I had to give up.
Tuesday at the office wasn't quite as calm as Monday. Elder Kroff had to go early to give Elder Paz some money because he had some errands to run. Brother Valentini was coming to drive him around. Good thing, because Elder Nelson was laying on a blanket on the floor of President's office when I arrived. He had been up all night vomiting and looked terrible. He had to come to work because he couldn't be alone. Before Elder Paz left, they gave him a blessing and bedded him down on the floor. He would come out occasionally to see if he could manage doing something at his desk, but soon ended back on the floor. Poor guy.
The phone seemed to ring continuously throughout the morning. Rich is the main one who answers it so I sat at my desk and got our Book of Mormon order sent off. I received a few doctor calls and worked on a few of the 43 baptisms that happened last week which started coming in over the fax. We need numbers like that in order to meet the goal of doubling the baptism.
The President called me to see if I could come to the mission home tomorrow and help Hermana Argyle with the luncheon for the training meeting they have for the new missionaries that arrived a couple weeks ago. They, and their companions, will be fed lunch at this training meeting. I didn't hesitate with my answer. I'd love to help. I am glad all my ordering is done, so that will take some pressure off what had to be done this week.
Right after lunch, I sent Rich to the farmacia to get Elder Nelson some Pepto Bismol and some Tylenol. Then he picked up some 7-up at Disco. When he returned, the "mother" in me came forward and I strongly urged Elder Nelson to go home to bed. Elder Paz could do his computer work tomorrow. It didn't take much prompting and they were out the door.
Rich and I worked quietly at our computers accomplishing a good day's worth of work. Well, Elder Kroff actually counted a bucket full of coins that some zone turned in quite a while ago. He doesn't know where the money came from, but knew it couldn't remain sitting around. So, he prepared it for deposit.
Physical therapy finished off the day. Rich had done quite a bit of walking the last couple of days so his leg was feeling more tired than usual and riding the stationary bike was a bit more taxing. Mariana is happy with his progress and continues to set up more appointments. We aren't sure when this will end, but he likes how his leg feels after each session.
We planned ahead for a remise driver from San Fernando to come and pick us up after therapy. Rich had been with this gentleman before, but I had never seen him. He took us home another way through an area that we found unfamiliar. It had private gated communities, a University located there, plus a high school, large homes, water front properties, and many speed bumps. Good grief!! All this is close to us?? He explained a lot of what we were passing, and we wished it was daylight so we could see what he was showing us. We will have to return on foot sometime. He said it is a popular place for Sunday afternoon walks because cars are not zooming by all the time due to the speed bumps. We thanked him for the tour and it didn't cost extra. It was still 12 pesos to get us home.
