Forty Four Years

Today is our anniversary and we both remembered. We even knew how many years we had been married - 44. That's the good news! We haven't lost all our mental ability at this age.

For the anniversary shot, we chose to stand in front of the inner door between the foyer and the office. The name of the mission is engraved in the glass. It is really a pretty door.

The bad news is that we didn't have time to do anything special. We couldn't even come up with a place close to us to go out for dinner except McDonalds, and heaven forbid, I wasn't about to spend my anniversary there. But, even if we would have found a place to go, we didn't have time.

We left the office around 5:20 in time to come home so Rich could change clothes and get to the physical therapy appointment by 6:00. We only had 10 minutes at home before the remise came to get us.

The exercises and demands on his leg tonight went well and were easier than the session before. So hopefully things are coming along. We wonder how people recover and regain full use of limbs after surgery without some sort of therapy. We are sure it happens, but at our age we can see the benefit of professionals to help it along.

After the appointment ended, we needed to go to the ClĂnica Angelus, where Dr. Ottonello works, to drop off Elder Halsted's MRI films. So on the way home (which really wasn't on our way home) we had the remise driver detour to that location so we could complete that task. We didn't want to make another trip tomorrow to take the MRI to the doctor. It took us 50 minutes to arrive home with that extra stop. It was then 8:00. If we were Argentines, that's when the evening begins, but to us it was winding down time.

What about our anniversary dinner? I was starved, but didn't want to prepare a long drawn out meal. Should we just have left over pizza or french toast? That didn't sound very festive so I decided on Ravioli. It is a big item here and is prepared by boiling them and covering with a tomato based sauce. A tossed salad joined the pasta. I don't know why I buy them occasionally, because I have yet to like them. To me there is no taste at all. They are filled with a variety of things and I find no difference in the bland taste. But at least it took the hunger away. Oh well, live and learn.

Today at the office we had a normal day. I am getting ahead on many things and it is mainly because of having only three incoming missionaries in September. I am almost ready for them. And we only have five coming in November, so I am preparing some of their things too. I am so proud of myself. I like being ahead.

Elder Kroff went to the bank, balanced his cash drawer, paid some facturas (bills) at the Pago Rapido, and organized and filed away many receipts and papers that had been left from the previous financial secretary. So he was busy all day too.

The elders found out that it was our anniversary today when we had them take our picture, so when Elder Valente came back from being gone part of the day, he brought me some flowers. He is very tender and thoughtful. We asked him who was going to call us every night at 9:30 to see if we are in and okay? He checks up on us regularly.

I love this picture. These are our "Favorite Five" enjoying dinner at the Red Iguana on Mekhi's birthday. Both sweeties are 4 years old. The other sweeties are a bit older than that. We love them all.

  1. Wow, happy anniversary! Even if your dinner wasn't all that appetizing, at least your marriage has been wonderful :)
