A Day of Rest

It won't be long before every driver for the remise company we use will know where the Mormon church in Tigre is located. For some, it was a first in finding the place. Now, a few of the drivers have taken us there a second or third time since we have been attending that branch. The funny thing is that sometimes the amount we pay changes depending on who is driving and what he feels like charging. And this company has somewhat dumpy coches. The company we call in Tigre for the return trip have nicer cars and they charge less. It is impossible to figure out the system. Well, there is no system really.

At 9:00 I start playing the hymns I have selected for the day. I always practice them at our church during the week, but also need ample time on the Tigre piano. Sometimes I flip through the book and play others that I know. So for 30 minutes before church starts I am playing the piano mainly for my benefit so I don't mess up too badly when the singing starts. While conducting the meeting today, the Branch President thanked Hermana Kroff for the 30 minutes of prelude music to set the tone for sacrament meeting. Oh dear! I better make it meaningful. Someone every Sunday makes a comment to me about having music and how much they enjoy it. Rich says a couple sisters who come early try to find which hymn I am playing and follow along in the hymn book. Wow! The things we take for granted.

There wasn't a large congregation at church today - only about 48 people. We have seen more, and wonder where this family is or that one. There seems to be a lot of hit and miss type people in this branch. There are the faithful few who are there every time. I guess this is typical throughout the church, however.

Elder Kroff's class is enjoyable with good participation, but not too many investigators. The sister missionaries are good to bring the people they are teaching to church. They usually have someone with them.

These are the Solers. Katrina and Andres with son Iván. She loves purple, and wears it weekly. Brother Soler is the Ward Mission Leader, so attends and conducts Rich's Sunday School class. At the beginning of Sunday School class and Relief Society, a small bowl of wrapped hard tack candy is passed around for the taking. What a "sweet" thing to do.

Presidente Torre poses with Rich and a couple priesthood brethren in our narrow hallway at church.

We came home and stayed home the rest of the day. I fixed spaghetti for dinner and we took a Sunday afternoon nap. Rich has been icing his knee regularly as directed by the doctor.

The movie downloaded for tonights entertainment is How to Steel a Million with Audrey Hepburn & Peter O'Toole (1966)
