Rich had a pretty good nights sleep last night after having surgery. He took a pain pill earlier in the evening and a Tylenol PM before bed to relax him and help him sleep. It seemed to work as he had a calm night. He had planned all along to go to work because of translados as he had to meet the incoming missionaries to give them their debit cards and instruct them on finances. The elders came to pick us up in the President's car which we get to keep at the office all week. He got along fine with his muletas (crutches), and worked at the office for an hour getting his things together to take to the mission home.
The doctor called to see how he faired the night and, of course, could not tell that he was at work. Then he said, "Now I want you in bed all day with your leg up and ice on it." Gulp!!! Rich just said, "Okay" Then the AP's took him with them to the mission home. Once there, Sister Argyle gave him a concerned look and when he was ready to start his part of the training, she said, "Elder Kroff just had knee surgery yesterday, and when he is through, he is going home to bed." And that is exactly what he did. Usually he stays the day there and translates for President and Sister Argyle depending on how many Latinos missionaries we have, but not today. She ordered him to bed and he obeyed. Just being up and around for the short time he was really tired him out and he was glad he could go home. He misjudged how he would feel the day after surgery.
I stayed at work and helped control the goings and comings of missionaries. Our office was filling up fast with luggage and things that the missionaries being transferred to the South couldn't take with them. They are only allowed so much baggage weight on their flight, so we have to store some of their belongings until they come back this way. The transfer was a big one this time. Companionships were really shuffled up, and many from the South were switched with ones from the North. So it made for a busy day with lots of traffic in and out. It was fun for me because I was able to see a few missionaries that I have talked to on the phone, and know their names, but have never met them.
One of the transfers that affects us in the office is Elder Valente. He was informed that he will be transferred next time in six weeks. So, his replacement will come now to work side by side with him and learn his job. Now we have a threesome in our office. I am going to miss Elder Valente. He makes us laugh. He came over to me today and pointed to his heart and said that it hurt. I told him mine did too. We knew he wouldn't be in the office forever. But, it still is hard to see them go.
I worked until 5:00 and then left to go home and take care of Elder Kroff. He had a wonderful afternoon of napping, resting his leg, keeping it iced, and watching a movie that he downloaded on his iPhone that could be watched on the T.V. It was called "Laura". He is going through the top ten old time classics. This one is a murder mystery.
OH, you've GOT to get Rebecca. It's an oldie and a great movie!
