FHE at Argyles

We woke up this morning anticipating a busy zone conference day. Elder Kroff had to wear a suit, and I picked an outfit with a jacket as I knew the church would be cold. Maybe the President would turn the heat on in the cultural hall. But, at best, the room would still be chilly. Luckily, our conference is held at the church where our office is located, so we don't have to travel far.

We left for the office around 8:00 so we could accomplish a couple of things before the conference started. I had to fax a hospital authorization to the Britanico Hospital where I was sending a sister missionary that has had a bad foot for about a week now. Dr. Petersen said she could have a stress fracture in the small bones on the top of her foot. It needs to be xrayed.

In the cultural hall, we had to sit where we could see out the door to the street if someone came to ring our bell. The truck that is going to deliver our supplies and mail to the zones in the South was scheduled to come pick up our 10 boxes that I have had ready for a week. I was hoping for a earlier pickup date, but that didn't happen.

One of the things discussed today was the change of medical matters from Sister Argyle to me. With four zones knowing of the switch so far, I have had a few calls. I wonder how it will be when all 10 zones are informed. But, the President is giving pretty strict orders/suggestions that the missionaries only call me in an emergency. They are to take responsibility for their own health and read the health section in the binders they get from the mission that explains general illnesses and what to do for them. Then, if something persists and won't go away, they call me and I call the doctor. We'll see what happens.

At the end of the conference, Sister Argyle invited us to Family Home Evening tonight. Oh, how fun! We, of course, will go. How nice of them.

After the lesson given by Hermana Argyle, and a yummy treat of a brownie topped with ice cream, we played a game at the dining room table. It is one that we played with the children one Saturday shortly after we got here when they asked us to tend the younger children that day.

The kids are really hooked on it and tonight we played in partners. Good thing, because Rich and I had forgotten how to play it. Seth, the youngest, was my partner and he is a whiz at the game. So he took the lead. I didn't mind at all.

It was fun for us to see the interaction of the children with their parents. They are a typical family competing with one another. It was fun. . . . and especially fun to see the President in a different setting.
