Hace Frio (It is cold)

Ok, so it does get cold in Argentina.  I have been chilled all day, even with long sleeves. Walking to the office the temperature was 46 degrees, but the humidity was around 87%, so it felt like 40 degrees.  We were warned that when the temperature drops, it is hard to keep the buildings warm.  Most places are made of cement, and the walls don't warm up much.  It's not super cold yet, and I'm afraid to think of what it will feel like when winter really settles in.

Today, Rich spent about 4 hours on the phone going through iMOS training.  iMOS stands for Internet Mission Operating System.  It used to be just MOS, a stand alone program the church used around the world to run the missions.  Now it is connected to the internet, so that the Missionary Department in Salt Lake can send data to missions around the world, and the information won't have to be entered again by each individual mission.  It will save a lot of time in the finance area, at transfer time, and in a lot of other aspects of missionary work.   Elders Clegg and Valente had to listen to two hours of it for the things they are responsible for, but Elder Kroff was involved with all of it in one way or another. Hermana Kroff, however, was spared because it was all done in Spanish.

After work, when we left the office, we took the car because we had to take the packets I put together for the missionaries leaving the mission to Sister Argyle. But, first, we wanted to try to find another Western Union so we could get the money that Marianne sent to us.  No such luck!  It was in a bank which was closed. So we found another one and it was closed too.  It is really hard to get things done around here.  With siestas and weird hours, it is next to impossible to do it when it is convenient for us.  We'll try again tomorrow.

On our way to the Argyles, we decided to try to find the Javier (hair salon), and the Tintoreria (dry cleaner) that she recommended.  We were successful!!  So we dropped off a pair of Rich's pantalones that needed cleaning.  The bushy haired salon operator looked a bit unusual, but he was working with a smile, so I guess I'll try him out when the time comes.

We have been in need of our camera charger that was stolen.  Our pocket camera that wasn't stolen is dead now, and Rich thought we might have another charger at home that Marianne could send down to us.  We were so excited today when the package came, but it is the wrong one.  So now we think we brought both of them along, and both ended up in the robber's hands. We are almost out of pictures to put on the blog.  But, thank goodness for the iPhone.  It takes pictures.  So that will have to do until Marianne can purchase another charger in the states and send to us.

It's after midnight, and morning comes early, so "that's all folks".   Goodnight.

  1. Why does it seem like we can't get to bed until midnight.
