An Elders Dream

Today was spent totally at the office.  There were no assignments or errands to take us away from our desks. But, that was a good thing, because we had some catch up work to do.  I spent most of the day on baptisms. This batch from the missionaries had lots of missing information. The most common thing lacking is birth dates of parents and sometimes children.  They shouldn't even come to me that way.  It creates a lot of extra work for me because I have to call the missionaries, and then wait for them to go after the information.  I entered 27 baptisms, and there are about three more that I need.  But, I don't complain too much because that is the reason we are hear, right?

While working along this morning, someone rang at our outside gate.  Rich answered the phone and it was a girl just saying "Hola".  So he went outside to see who it was and what she wanted. She was about 30 years old and she told him that she walks by our church/office everyday while taking her little boy to school and has always wanted to stop and find out what it was all about.  So today she decided to do it.  She knew we were the Mormons.  Rich invited her in to our waiting area and then went to get one of our office Elders. They took her inside the church and showed her around and answered a few of her questions.  They made an appointment for her to come back tomorrow.  She said she was living with her sister and that she wouldn't be able to have them come there to visit with her.  When Rich left her in the waiting area, and came back into our offices, he told the Elders that he had a golden contact out front for them.
Cool, huh!!  We hope everything goes well, and that she is truly interested.

Tonight I have been chopping up tomatoes, green peppers, and onions to take to a dinner and meeting we are having tomorrow night at the Area Offices.  It is a meeting on security issues for all senior missionaries. The security people have always wanted to get some training together, but our robbery has forced the issue. Now they are getting it done.  We are excited to be in attendance, and will offer our thoughts on the matter. Before the meeting, they are having a potato and salad bar.  I am glad we were included in furnishing something.  (But I am glad it wasn't something I had to bake in my oven that burns everything).

In the morning, we are to be at the Mission Home at 8:30 a.m.  There is a Zone Leaders meeting at 9:00, and Rich has to talk to them about finances.  It seems like that is all he ever does.  A lunch is prepared for them, and Sister Argyle has asked me to help her get the food ready and served.  Her housekeeper who usually does it won't be there because her son is coming home from his mission tomorrow.

So we will have things to report on tomorrows entry.  Stay tuned.  No pictures today, sorry!
